Things to Do
Cancun - full of bars, discos, malls, restaurants, diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, tennis, golf, spas, you name it and it is there. There are also day tours to Mayan ruins. There is no end to what you can do.
Or Isla Blanca - a very quiet area only 40 minutes away from Cancun but with a much different feel. All the watersport stuff is available and there are daily boats to nearby Isla Mujeres for a little shopping or dining. The Mayan tours are available as well. Birdwatching to Isla Contoy. Diving, snorkeling, even reef or blue water fishing for those in your group not up to fly fishing
The best part is that the fishing is right out your door or from your hammock ( well almost!)
