JOURNEYS END
TRIP DESCRIPTION
The trip begins in Belize City where you will board a small plane for your flight to the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Here we transfer to a boat for the final few miles to your private resort . The Journey's End Resort is truly that, a white sand island scattered with palms with the Caribbean on all sides. After checking in you have plenty of free time to explore the beach and the rest of the compound. If you are just dying to go fishing there are bonefish all around the island. You can wade off the ocean side or grab a canoe or kayak and head for the lagoon in the back and get that first fish out of the way. Dinner is served at the Luna Restaurant between 6:30 and 9:00 with a full menu to choose from each night. If you are fishing the next day you should check in with the activities director the night before to confirm the time to meet your guide. This may be a good time to place your lunch order as well so it will be ready in the morning.

The fishing day begins with breakfast around 7:00 then its off to the flats. The Mexican style Pangas and English speaking guides will put you onto fish quickly as the best flats are quite close to the lodge. About 50% of the flats are hard and pretty easy to wade. Some areas on the lagoon side are wadeable while others are best fished from the boat with the guide poling in search of fish. It is a perfect place for beginners to get the hang of fly fishing for bonefish. There are lots of fish in this area of Belize and not many have seen a fly before. If you can cast 30-40 feet you will catch bonefish here. If you can't cast that far we'll teach you!
The nice part about this area of Belize (besides your family thinking you are not such a bad person after all) is the mix of fish available year round. Unlike the Bahamas or Florida Belize is far enough south that even during cold fronts, the flats stay warm enough to hold fish. Having flats that hold tarpon, bonefish and permit year round is a very unique part of this destination and why it is one of my favorites
If you are out fishing the lunches are boxed with sandwiches and chips and fruit the normal fare with plenty of soft drinks water and beer on board. Each boat carries a guide and two anglers. If you are not out fishing that day you have a full lunch menu to choose from each day at the resort.
After fishing everyone tends to gather round the bar for some exaggerated tales of the day and get into the island spirit. The Smiling Toucan bartender will keep your drinks full and your smiles broad!

Dinner is served in our restaurant at your leisure. Each evening you will have a choice a a few seafood entrees and at least one chicken or beef entree. Click Here to see a sample menu for a day! If you were hoping you might loose some weight on this trip, you are mistaken. The food is delicious. Our American trained chef will delight you and fatten you
up for tomorrow's activities.
After dinner relax at the Smiling Toucan or La Habana Martini bar or take a water taxi into San Pedro for a change of scenery. Here you will find some shops, bars, and restaurants to visit.
For the diving guest the routine is pretty much the same except you will head out for the days dive right after breakfast. The second largest barrier reef in the world and the finest dive facility and staff in Belize await you. As a 5 star PADI IDC facility, Nitrox and Trimix certified, with the reef 100 yards from your cabana we are the logical choice for your diving vacation. Beginners through expert will appreciate the diversity of the sites and the quality of guides and instructors.
If you don't want to dive, fish or tour ruins today you can just enjoy a leisurely vacation relaxing on the beach or in a hammock. How about a day at the Serenity Spa? Everyone has unlimited use of all the sailboats, kayaks, canoes, pools, ping pong, volleyball, tennis which are included in all the packages. You can rent a bike or golf cart if you want to venture a little farther on your own. Add to that the option to buy a day of fishing, snorkeling, diving or any one of the 15 different tours we have at the activities desk and you will see that this is not a boring fishing spot at all. Ambergris Caye is a world class fishing destination combined with more activities for non fishers than any other destination we offer. A fishing honeymoon? A fishing wedding? It is possible here! In fact, Lisa and I e were married at Journey's End in April of 2000! Both our families had a wonderful time whether they fished or not.
