Argentina's Patagonia region offer some of the worlds most spectacular fly fishing for trout in the shadow of Argentina's Andes Mountain range. Picture Montana 50 years ago with fish that have never seen a fly - this is Argentina today! The fly fishing in this region of Argentina is untouched with great fishing for rainbows, browns, brookies and landlocked salmon. We have many types of trips to offer, from week long lodge trips (sometimes moving mid week) to week-long fly fishing float trips for those who want to be on the water 24 hours a day. You can also combine some nights in a true Argentina estancia or lodge with overnight trips on a river. It is completely customized for you.
Unlike a fixed lodge, we follow the fishing and utilize rafts to access any water. There is no such thing as private fly fishing water in Argentina even though the lodges would like you to think so. We have access rights to different rivers and once we launch the boats we can float through any "private" sections of a river. You will almost never see another fishing party. As one river peaks early in the season and the trout move we can follow them rather than be locked in to the same river. Northern Argentina has freshwater fly fishing for Dorado. This Golden scaled fish is a fierce fighter that jumps and runs with the best of them. The Esquina area offers some unique wading opportunities for these fish. The lodge will charm you with its typical Argentina hospitality, beef and wine and the rivers, creeks lakes and lagoon will keep you on the hunt for Dorado. Not only does Argentina have great fishing - it is famous for its grass fed beef and Malbec wines. Most of our watercraft is kept on trailers to make sure we can chase the Dorado as their location changes with the season. We are not stuck fishing one part of one river, we maintain flexibility in order to catch more fish. Argentina Dorado are predators that will attack a fly when presented in a half-way decent manner. They are not particular in that regard. The Argentine Dorado will range in size from 3 pounds to 15 pounds. Try a back to back trip with one week of fly fishing for Argentina Dorado and the next week in Patagonia fly fishing for trout.
Tierra del Fuego is the ultimate in Argentina destination for brown trout fly fishing. Back in the early 1930's they brought some brown trout eggs in to the area and now they have sea run brown trout between 5 and 30 pounds! We utilize several small lodges with private access to both river banks on the famous Rio Grande river. All the fishing is wading and you are transported to the desired area of the river by 4 wheel drive vehicle. This is brutal country and you will enjoy the fire after a long day of fishing for these sea run beauties.
